According to the Daily Express, Arsenal have turned down a £25million bid from Chelsea for Theo Walcott.
Last night, Walcott’s agent told the newspaper said that he did not believe Chelsea would make a higher offer and that he was no longer in negociations with them.
Gobsmacked that Chelsea would make such a offer for a player with only one year left on his contract and equally shocked that Arsenal would turn it down. Twenty five million is van Persie type money.
Walcott is expected to have talks with Arsenal regarding the interest in him with Liverpool are also said to be interested in the Arsenal winger. As mentioned, Walcott is entering the last 12 months of his contract and is believed to want £100,000-a-week while Arsenal are only willing to pay £80,000.
But if Arsenal are willing to turn down that sort of money for Theo, then Wenger and Gazidis must be very confident that they can sign Theo to a new deal before this transfer window closes.
Do you think Arsenal should sign Walcott to a new deal or should they sell him to Chelsea or Liverpool?
