Juventus Make Cheeky £8m Bid For Arsenal’s Robin van Persie

According to reports in Italy, Juventus have made an approach Robin Van Persie.

The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus have made an £8m bid RVP, a bid that Arsenal rejected out of hand.

The Serie A champions have said that they want to sign a marquee forward this summer, but £8m will not get it done.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsene Wenger is is expected to have a one-on-one conversation with RVP this week, just the two of them to gauge van Persie’s desire to return to Arsenal.

Writing in his blog for Eurosport, Wenger said:

“We want to keep Robin van Persie at all costs, because we depend on him offensively.

“I have always supported him even in the hardest times, and I hope he will end his career at Arsenal.”

Strangely I don’t feel as much angst to keep RVP this summer as I did last summer with Nasri and Fabregas. Maybe its because its July and Arsenal have already bought ready made replacements. Maybe is because while RVP was been brilliant last season, it was the first team really in his Arsenal career that he stayed injury free. Not having any international duties last summer might have had something to do with that.

If Arsenal got offered £25million from Juventus that wold be a hard one of turn down. At that price you are basically trading RVP for Podolski and Giroud. That is a trade that most Arsenal fans would make any day of the week.
