The New England Revolution could have filled two of needs with the signing of central defender John Lozano and midfielder/forward Fernando Cárdenas.
“Both John and Fernando have experience playing in Colombia’s top division, both with and against some of CONCACAF’s top club teams,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said. “Lozano is a strong central defender who reads the game well, and Cárdenas is a creative player who we believe has the tools to help us in the attacking half of the field. We expect that both players will have significant roles on our team this season.”
Hopefully Lozano who is 27, can bring some experience and stability to a Revs defense that was exposed too many times last season.
Cárdenas is an interesting signing in that the Revs were one of the worst offensive sides in MLS last season. We will have to see where Cardenas fits in alongside Benny Feilhaber and Shalrie Joseph in the heart of the Revs midfield next season.
