Holders Barcelona and AC Milan are the first two teams through to the UEFA Champions League round of 16, while Arsenal and Chelsea failed to pick up the wins they needed in order to assure progression to the knockout stages.
Milan were held to a 1-1 draw in Minsk by BATE Borisov, with Ibrahimovic getting the all important goal for the Italian champions. Also in group H are Barcelona and they won in a stroll, 4-0 against Plzeň with Lionel Messi picking up anther hat-trick. Milan and Barca will meet on 23 November in Milan to decide who goes intop the knockout stages as the all-important group winning.
The big surprise was in Cyprus where Apoel Nicosia beat Porto 2-1 on a dramatic last-minute winner by Gustavo Manduca, that came within seconds of Hulk equalising from the penalty spot for Porto. With Zenit beating Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0 in an earlier match today, Apeol are a point ahead of Zenit with Porto three further back meaning an Apeol victory in either of their remaining games would put them in the last 16.
Chelsea and Arsenal could both have gone through tonight to the knockout stages with wins, but they were both held to draws. Chelsea drew 1-1 at Genk and Group E now looks much closer than it did yesterday after Valencia beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1. Valencia are now within one point of Leverkusen and three of Chelsea.
Finally Arsenal are still on top of Group F even though they were held 0-0 at home by Marseille. A point behind the Gunners, Marseille are three ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who moved into third by beating Olympiacos 1-0.
The fourth set of games in Groups A to D are played on Wednesday night while the next matches in these sections are on 23 November.
