In an absolutely crazy decision, Mike Ashley is getting set to name Alan Pardew as Newcaslte’s new manager, replacing Chris Hughton who he sacked on Monday.
Pardew is nothing more than a recycled old manager that neither the players or fans want. In a recent online survey by the Evening Chronicle in Newcastle Pardew only received 14 votes out of more than 1,000 responses asking Newcastle fans who they wanted as the new manager. This has disaster written all over it.
In firing Hughton, Ashley said he wanted someone with management experience. So while his new manager has over 500 games under his belt, but limited Premier League experience.
He joined West Ham in September 2003 and guided them to promotion to the Premier League in 2005 before being sacked in December 2006. He then joined Charlton on Christmas Eve 2006 but the club were relegated from the Premier League later that season and after failing to get promotion in 2007-08, he left in November 2008.
Pardew must really be desperate for a job because I cannot see how he can be successful at Newcastle. Ashley is not going to give him any more to spend in the January transfer window and Pardew is reported set to become the lowest paid manager in the Premier League as his contract is a results-based one.
Who would have thought that Newcastle would look at the Freddy Shepherd era as the good old days!
